U73 Varicom Prototype |
While we have moved away from racking, modding and reviving historic
V series modules, occasionally a project will come along that piques our interest in this area. For example, a few years
ago we were given the opportunity to fully refurbish and update a 1965 EAB 8 x 2 monitor console. Not only was the board in total disrepair, but the owner was interested in adding historic TAB and Telefunken modules
to make the board more versatile.
In fact, the
historic V and U Series modules (V72, U76, U73, V376, etc.) were used by many different companies to construct multi-channel
recording desks. The most famous being the REDD37 at Abbey Road Studios in London which was used for most of the Beatles recording sessions. We have nearly
all of the documentation on most of the classic consoles that used historic TAB and Telefunken modules to recreate those classic
boards.
On special order, we have also built analog input
or mastering consoles that can be used in conjunction with digital recording tools. We've also custom built a 54-Channel transformer balanced splitting snake designed for live PA applications.
If you have a specialty project and you would like to see if we can
build it for you, please contact us at sales@tab-funkenwerk.com and we would be happy to discuss your project with you. We're always happy to hear
requests as sometimes they turn into ongoing products for us, which is the story behind The Hydra splitter.
